Put the baby on Heat

Mongoose babies, like other mammals are unable to produce body heat. Put your baby on a heat pad with a towel inbetween and make sure the baby is warm (not hot) to the touch.
If you do not have a heat pad available, you can hold the baby in your hands or heat a water bottle and wrap a towel around it for warmth.

Withoir heat, the baby will die.

What do I feed it?

Mongoose babies need supplemental formula for growth. The best thing you can feed is KMR or PetLac kitten formula mixed with Soy Milk. You must mix equal parts formula with soy milk for the babies to be able to digest the formula. You can put the formula in a kitten bottle and be sure to feed the baby slowly- you do not want the baby to choke or drown on the formula.

IF KMR IS NOT AVAILABLE, use plain soy milk and dilute with a small bit of warm water in the meantime.
DO NOT GIVE ANY OTHER TYPE OF MILK ASIDE FROM GOAT OR KITTEN MILK.

NO COWS MILK.

You can give warm sugar water or unflavored pedalyte in the meantime.

Each mongoose should drink 1cc of formula per feeding.

Weigh your baby on a scale before every feeding to ensure it is properly gaining weight.

Babies should be fed every 2 hours. Until the baby is able to walk well, you can stretch the time to every 3 hours.

Babies cannot use the bathroom on their own. You must stimulate their genetalia with a warm clean q tip. Gently dab their boy or girl parts to stimulate urine and feces.
Dispose of the q tip after every bowel movement.

Once the baby is moving, you can now introduce solid foods. Raw chicken gizzards in tiny cut up pieces is great to start supplementing in. Softer fruits in small amounts such as bananas and mango are good options as well. Don’t forget about greens- green beans, fresh kale, and broccoli should be offered daily.

Habitat

Mongooses are wild animals and need constant stimulation. They should not be kept as pets in cages. Free roaming, areas to dig and explore should be available to the rehabbing of the mongoose.
